About Us


Building
Originally founded in 1936 as the Royal Society of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the Grenada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is one of the oldest societies in the Caribbean.
The GSPCA is a non-profit, volunteer organization employing a full time kennel worker and an administrative assistant. We have over 300 members worldwide. Memberships cost $50 EC / $30 US per year. Grenada SPCA and Animal Shelter
Our programs include: low cost and free spay / neuter clinics, feral cat program, education program, vaccination clinics, volunteer vet scheme and community outreach programs for unwanted, abused, neglected or stray animals. We travel the island in our mobile surgery van when volunteer vets are available.

Marsha - Admin Assistant
Our hospital offers: low cost spays and neuters, vaccinations, de-worming, skin treatment for sarcoptic and demodec mange, bacterial and fungal infections, ear mites, eye infections, minor wounds, burns, poisoning, minor injuries, nail clipping and grooming. Treatment Area
We work closely with government to assist with the Animal Control Act and the Rabies Vaccination and Dog Registration program.
We are a member society of the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) and are associated and supported by Humane Society International (HSI), The Pegasus Foundation, and the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW).

In 2000, St. George's University School of Veterinary Medicine, (SGUSVM) joined forces with the GSPCA. SGUSVM remodeled our Shelter adding ample space for teaching purposes giving both our organizations the opportunity to "team up" and work together to reach our goals in the art of animal welfare.

Volunteering Vet and Students
The GSPCA refers seriously ill or injured animals to the St. George's University, Veterinary Teaching Hospital near campus for treatment.
